My dad told me I was wasting money on fancy oats, so I tried the store brand

I used to buy those pricey steel-cut oats in the fancy canister, like $6 for a tiny bag. My dad laughed and said, just get the big tub of quick oats for $2 at the grocery store in Austin. I finally tried it last week and honestly, it tastes the same and makes way more servings. Now I just add a spoonful of peanut butter and some cheap frozen berries, and it's a filling breakfast for under 50 cents. Anyone else have a family member call them out on overspending at the store?

Honestly man it's oatmeal. I get that spending $6 on a tiny bag of oats feels dumb when you see the price difference, but is it really that deep? My dad once lectured me for buying name brand ketchup and I still buy Heinz because the store brand tastes like tomato paste and regret. If your quick oats with peanut butter work for you then great, but I wouldn't frame it as some huge life lesson.
