Serious question about bulk rice vs. instant rice savings

I tracked my rice costs for 6 months. Bulk brown rice from the Asian market cost me $0.18 per serving. The instant rice packets from the regular store cost $0.89 per serving. That's almost 5 times more for the same amount of food. Does the convenience of instant rice really beat out the time and effort of cooking bulk rice for you guys?

Almost choked on my drink reading that. Five times the price is honestly insane for just skipping a pot and some water.

Right? And what's really the difference between skipping a pot and actually roasting it, @hill.jade? Bet they're using the same beans, just charging more for the label. You know some people buy it just because it's expensive, thinking it's gotta be better. Makes you wonder how much of this stuff is just marketing hype with no real substance behind it.
