That $6 plastic spatula snapped clean in half on me yesterday making scrambled eggs

I got three months out of it from the dollar store, but now I'm stuck scraping up eggs with a wooden spoon. Anyone else just dealt with cheap kitchen tools failing at the worst time?

Has anyone else ever tried to flip an egg with a fork and ended up wearing half of it? I feel that pain, my last spatula broke mid-flip on a pancake and I just stood there staring at the handle in my hand like it betrayed me. I honestly think those cheap ones are made from leftover Lego plastic or something, they just give up when you need them most. My eggs looked like a Jackson Pollock painting after I tried to salvage them with a butter knife. Now I just buy the ugly orange ones from the hardware store, they seem to survive everything except my cooking.

My buddy Tom had a similar thing happen with a cheap spatula from the grocery store, it just snapped while he was flipping pancakes on a Sunday morning. He ended up using a fork to finish cooking and said the pancakes looked like a crime scene afterwards. Now he swears by those thick rubber spatulas that cost a bit more but actually hold up.
