Appreciation post: my coworker's $2 rotisserie chicken idea at Costco
Six months ago my coworker Dana said to stop buying raw chicken and just get a $4.99 rotisserie bird, pull the meat, and stretch it into 4 meals with rice and frozen veggies. I figured it would taste dry and sad, but I did it Sunday and got tacos, a salad, soup, and sandwiches out of one chicken for about $9 total. Anyone got other leftovers that beat cooking from scratch on price?
Rotisserie chicken is my go to for cheap meal weeks too. A whole chicken plus a bag of rice and some frozen veg gets me through lunches for days, and the bones make a stock that beats anything from a can. Maybe it's just me but the rotisserie bird is doing more work than any raw chicken I ever bought.
