Frozen veggies beat fresh for my weekly $60 meal plan
Everyone in this group seems to swear by farmers market hauls, but I found frozen broccoli and spinach actually last three weeks in my fridge without going slimy. I started buying the store brand bags at $1.50 each last month, and they cook up softer than I expected for soups and stir fries. Fresh bell peppers cost me $2.79 each and rotted by day four, while a frozen mix gave me four servings for the same money. My issue was waste, not taste, and frozen solved that without me prepping every night. Does anyone else skip fresh produce for frozen on purpose, or am I missing some trick to keep it alive longer?
