Serious question, did the math on my grocery bill after a $38 surprise at the register in Phoenix
I was at the Fry's on Camelback in Phoenix two weeks ago and my total came to $38 more than I planned. I stood there in the parking lot with the receipt spread on my hood and started crossing stuff off in my head. It turned out I was buying the small bags of rice, beans, and oats every single trip instead of the big ones, and the unit price on those little bags was almost double. That night I did the math on a 5 lb bag of oats versus the 18 oz one and it was not even close, the small one cost more per ounce by a mile. So I switched to buying the big bags and just keeping a scoop in a jar on the counter, and my bill dropped to $61 for the same two weeks of food. Next I want to test dry beans against cans, has anyone done that swap and actually stuck with it long term?
