TIL you can turn $3 of dried chickpeas into 6 meals if you stop buying the cans
I was standing in the grocery aisle doing math on my phone and the cans were $1.29 each while a one pound bag of dried ones was $2.89. I went with the bag even though I had never cooked them from scratch and honestly figured I would waste it. Soaked them overnight, boiled the whole batch Sunday, and now I have chickpeas for curry, a salad, and some roasted crunchy ones for snacking. That is 6 meals out of three bucks, which beats the cans by a mile. Does anyone have a trick for freezing cooked beans so they don't turn to mush when they thaw?
