Rant: I spent 2 hours scrubbing a flat top with a grill brick before an old dish guy showed me the ice trick
Friday night close, probably 30 burgers worth of crust baked onto that flat top. I did the whole thing with a brick and a scraper, arms smoked, and it still looked gray. Dish guy named Manny watched me for a minute and asked why I was working so hard. He dumped a pitcher of ice water on the surface while it was still hot, let it sit maybe 30 seconds, then pushed everything off with one pass of the scraper. Came up clean in about 4 minutes. I felt like an idiot. Now I do that every close and my elbows thank me. Anybody got another one of these dumb simple tricks I should know about before I waste another night scrubbing?
Heard about the same trick from a guy on a cooking sub, cold water on a hot flat top and the crust just lifts off. Never tried it myself but everyone swears by it. Manny probably saved your whole weekend.
