Bought a $600 carbon fiber brush rod and regret it every day
Honestly I figured the fancy lightweight stuff would make my life easier on those tall chimneys but that rod snapped on the third job. It was a 7 foot section from ChimneySweepPro in Denver and I had to pay another $200 for a steel replacement. Anyone else had bad luck with those expensive rods?

That $600 rod breaking is just another case of fancy stuff failing harder than the basic version.

I fish with a guy who swears by his $50 ugly stik and it's caught everything from bass to 40lb catfish without a single crack. But I watched my buddy's high end loomis snap on a cast with no snag or drag lock at all last spring. It's not always about the price tag though, some of those premium rods use lighter materials that just can't take the same abuse. I think the real issue is people buy stuff way above their skill level and expect it to be unbreakable.
