Hot take: after 14 years on the brush, a rainy Tuesday in March taught me why I stopped dreading the slow season
I had nothing on the books that morning, so I sat in the shop sharpening rods and counting the crack in the ceiling, and it hit me that the weeks I used to hate have quietly become the only time I get ahead on gear, so I'm curious whether other sweeps here actually use the slow months or just wait them out.
Sat in my own empty chair last February doing the same thing, just staring at a pile of dull clippers I'd been putting off for months. Turns out those dead weeks are when I finally swap out all my blades, redo the sharpening log, and test new products on my own dog before I ever bring them near a client. Now I actually block off a couple days a month in the slow season for shop upkeep on purpose, because once spring hits I don't have a spare minute to think. Waiting the season out just means you start busy season already behind.
