I finally figured out I was using the wrong brush head for sooty flues
Been sweeping for about 4 years now. Always used the poly brush on everything. Then last Tuesday I was at a job in an old Victorian downtown. The homeowner watched me for a minute and goes 'you know that round brush is just pushing dust around on those tight corners right?' Looked closer at my results. She was dead on. Switched to a wire brush for that heavy creosote and it cut my time by half. Any of you guys stick to one brush type or swap depending on the job?

Four years with the wrong brush? That's painfully relatable!

The wrong brush is like using a shovel to paint a portrait, @the_jessica. You get the job done but it takes forever and looks kinda rough. Four years is a long time to put up with that struggle though. At least you finally figured it out, which is more than some people ever do. It's wild how much easier things get with the right tool, isn't it? Makes you wonder what else we're all just making harder on ourselves.
