Serious question, steel brushes or poly brushes for creosote in a wood stove pipe?
Last month I switched from my old steel brush to a poly brush on a job in Duluth and the flue looked way cleaner after just one pass. The steel one was scratching up the seams and leaving little bits of glazed creosote behind, but the poly got into the corners without chewing up the metal. Anyone else notice that poly brushes work better on stage 2 creosote, or did I just get lucky with this one?
Read somewhere that poly brushes actually hold up better once the creosote gets to that glazed stage, since steel kinda just slides over it and tears up the pipe. Seems like you're not the only one seeing that. Might grab one before my next sweep tbh.
