TIL a $4 dollar store spatula works better for raking out a stubborn flue shelf than anything in my kit
Had a 1920s brick chimney in Portland with a shelf so tight my 6 inch brush kept riding over the crease and leaving a half inch of creosote behind. I bent a plastic spatula from the dollar bin at the register and duct taped it to a rod, and it scraped the whole ledge clean in about two passes. Anyone else got a cheap junk tool they reach for before the real gear?
