Battery swap at the farmers market failed hard, grid or portable?
Last Saturday I was running a solar demo booth in Portland and my backup battery died at noon because I forgot the charge controller was set to 12V instead of 24V. I spent 45 minutes rewiring on a folding table while people asked if I was selling pickles. The fix was just swapping to a spare 100Ah unit I keep in the truck, but it made me wonder if we should push for more standardized swap stations versus everyone hauling their own gear. Which approach actually scales better for community events, shared battery banks or individual portables?

The 12V vs 24V mixup is a classic, but honestly the real issue is your charge controller, not the battery format. Most folks running community booths would be better off with a simple 100Ah 12V setup that matches everything, since swapping standardized cells between different gear is a nightmare of voltage and plug compatibility. I've seen shared banks work at bigger festivals where one person handles all the wiring, but for a farmers market with random people helping out, individual portables are way more forgiving. You also gotta factor in that swap stations need someone to babysit the batteries all day, and that's usually the same person who's supposed to be demoing solar panels.
