I finally saw the plastic waste from my own garden project

I was so proud of my new raised beds last spring, using all those plastic pots and bags from the nursery. Then, after a heavy rain in April, I saw all that washed-out trash piled against my fence. It hit me that I was just moving the problem from one spot to another. Has anyone found a good way to start a garden without making so much trash?

Felt that same gut punch when my mulch bags blew across the yard.

Yeah, @park.wyatt. Try asking a local farm for their old burlap sacks.

Oh yeah, the mulch bag escape. I think they have a GPS tracker that activates the second the wind picks up. Mine ended up three streets over, wrapped around a neighbor's mailbox like some kind of sad tinsel." But really, that "gut punch" is real. I started saving those big plastic jugs from laundry detergent and cutting them into seed starter pots. Not pretty but at least they don't blow away. Also found out the hard way that those nursery pots are NOT biodegradable like the label claims. Liars.
