I thought my old gas mower was fine, then I borrowed my neighbor's electric one
I've had the same gas mower for 15 years and figured it was fine, but my neighbor let me use his electric model last weekend. I was shocked at how quiet it was, and I didn't have to buy gas or smell fumes the whole time. It made me realize how much pollution and noise I've been adding to our block every week for years. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a real drop in their gas costs?

Consider the math on that electric mower's battery. It's a big upfront cost and that battery will need a full replacement in maybe five years, which is basically buying the mower again. My gas can sits in the shed for months and the mower starts on the second pull every spring.

Second pull every spring" sounds nice. My buddy's gas mower sat all winter and the carb was totally gummed up. Cost him almost two hundred bucks to get it cleaned and running. That's a whole battery right there.
