My boss at the fencing job said something about concrete that stuck with me

We were pouring footings for a big job in Phoenix last Thursday, and he mentioned that concrete production makes up about 8% of global CO2. I had no idea it was that high. It made me think about all the other everyday materials we use without knowing their impact. Has anyone else come across surprising stats about common building stuff?

It's wild how many normal things have a huge hidden cost. I read something similar about how much water it takes to make a pair of jeans, it really makes you look at stuff differently.

Man, tell me about it. I felt so guilty after learning about jeans that I tried to cut back on water at home. Then I found out making a single chocolate bar uses like a whole bathtub of water too. Honestly, I'm just sitting here now wondering if my entire life is secretly a water crime scene. I can't even enjoy a snack in peace anymore.
