My city's compost program just got cut. Again.

Got the notice in the mail yesterday. They're reducing pickup to once a month starting next quarter. I had just convinced three neighbors to start using their green bins. Feels like we take one step forward and two steps back. How do you handle waste when local programs keep failing?

Ugh, doesn't that just feel like a gut punch? I had the same thing happen a couple years back. Got all excited about the program, then they just quietly stopped picking up food scraps and only took yard waste. It made the whole bin basically useless. I ended up getting a small tumbler for the backyard, but it's a pain in the winter.

That's so frustrating, especially after getting your neighbors on board. We started a backyard compost bin when our pickup got spotty. It takes some work but at least the waste doesn't go to the landfill.

Straight up get a tumbling composter. Best $60 I ever spent. Throw everything in there, spin it once a week, and you get usable soil in like 3 months. No more worrying if the city's gonna flip flop on their schedule.
