My neighbor the retired gardener told me to stop watering my lawn every day.
Honestly, I was out there with the sprinkler for 20 minutes a day for two years and my grass still looked patchy. She finally explained that daily watering makes roots lazy so they stay shallow and die in the heat. Has anyone else switched to deep watering once a week and actually seen better results?

Wait, did you notice a big difference in how the soil felt after a few weeks of that? I tried the same thing last summer and it was NIGHT and day compared to my old daily sprinkler habit. The grass roots just went deeper and the lawn stopped turning brown between waterings. It saved me so much time too since I wasn't dragging the hose around every evening. Some people told me I was crazy for only watering once a week but my lawn looked better than theirs.
