My neighbor's kid called me out for using plastic wrap and I felt like a fossil

So the other day I was wrapping up some leftovers and this 10 year old from next door saw me. He goes 'why don't you just use beeswax wraps like my mom?' I laughed at first but then he pulled out this whole speech about how much plastic ends up in the ocean from just one family a year. I mean a literal child gave me more facts than I've seen on social media in months. Anyone else ever get schooled by a kid about their daily habits?

Isn't it funny how kids just pick up whatever their parents are into these days?

Is it really that simple though? Kids are exposed to way more outside the home these days with YouTube, friends, and school. I see plenty of kids who go the exact opposite direction of their parents just to be different. My neighbor's son is a metalhead and his dad only listens to smooth jazz. Seems like kids are just as likely to rebel as they are to copy.
