Overheard my grandson explain carbon offset programs to his friend

I was sitting on my porch last week when my 16-year-old grandson started telling his buddy about how buying carbon offsets for flights just makes people feel better without actually fixing emissions. It got me thinking about how often we grab onto easy solutions instead of doing the harder work of changing our habits. Does anyone have a good example of a carbon offset program that actually made a measurable difference?

Carbon offsets do make a difference if you actually check the program's track record first.

Exactly! I saw a program that actually planted trees in areas where they showed me satellite photos of the regrowth happening. It's rare but some do track real results.
