Picked hardiplank over vinyl siding for my house remodel... kind of regretting it now

Man, that's a tough spot to be in. Hardiplank is seriously durable (like, bulletproof almost) but I've heard the install has to be exactly right or it can cause headaches. Hope the regret fades once you see how it holds up in a few years.

Yeah @lindareed, I read somewhere that Hardie board is basically the only siding some contractors will warranty for 30 years. But you're right, if the cauking or flashing isn't perfect, you're asking for water trouble down the line.
