Pro tip: I stopped running the dryer for small loads and my electric bill dropped $18 last month
Honestly I always thought line drying was one of those things that sounds nice but doesn't really move the needle. But our dryer is old and I noticed it was running 4 or 5 times a week for stuff like two towels or a couple of shirts. So I made a rule: if the load isn't full, it goes on the rack in the garage instead. First week I hated it. Second week it was just normal. Got the bill and we were down $18 from the same month a year ago. Not huge, but that's real money and the dryer is one of the biggest energy hogs in the house. The one thing I haven't figured out is sheets, those take forever to hang dry without getting stiff. Has anyone found a trick for that or am I just stuck running the big stuff?
