PSA: The creek behind my house is actually clear now
For years it was this gross brown color, but after the city finished that big storm drain project in March, I can see the bottom again. Has anyone else seen a local waterway get better from something like that?

Yeah, we had a similar thing with a pond in our neighborhood park. The key is to keep reporting any new runoff or weird colors you see to the city's public works department, they actually do follow up sometimes. It took a few calls from different people on our street to get them to check a broken pipe that was leaking into it. Really glad your creek cleared up, it makes such a difference to have clean water nearby.

Totally agree with what @jade_bell said about making multiple reports. It puts pressure on them to act. We kept a log with dates and photos of the oily sheen on our creek, which helped a ton. When the inspector finally came out, we could show him the whole timeline, not just a one time thing. It turned out to be a small business dumping cleaning water illegally for months.

Wait, the creek was brown for YEARS? That's wild. I always figured a little mud was normal, but that sounds like it was straight up polluted.
