Rant: I called my city's $2M e-bike rebate a handout, now I've ridden 900 miles on one

Last spring I argued at a council meeting in Duluth that the money was a waste, then a neighbor let me borrow his Rad for a week of errands and I put 140 miles on it without touching my truck. Anyone else flip on a climate program after trying it hands-on, or am I the only one who needed to actually ride the thing to get it?
