Rant: my town's e-bike rebate wiped out in 40 minutes, and I can't decide if that's a win or a mess
Last Tuesday at 9am, Portland opened 500 e-bike rebates worth $1,200 each and the whole pile was gone by 9:40. Half of me says that proves people actually want to ditch cars, but the other half watched a guy on Reddit brag about snagging one for a bike he's flipping on Craigslist. Should these programs go lottery style, income based, or straight first come first served?
