That Tuesday last July during the heat wave changed my mind about solar panels
It was 104 degrees in my neighborhood near Jacksonville, and my AC was struggling hard. I remember standing in my driveway at noon, watching my electric meter spin like crazy. The neighbor across the street with panels on his roof had his AC running full blast and told me his bill was half of mine. I spent that weekend calling three installers and got quotes ranging from $14,000 to $22,000 before I committed. Has anyone else been surprised by how much their monthly bill dropped after going solar?

...and then my neighbor told me about his dad who put panels on his house in 2012 and they saved him so much money the panels paid for themselves in like 6 years. I was standing there sweating, watching my meter spin, and I just thought, well if his old man can do it way back then, the tech has gotta be better now. I didn't get the absolute cheapest quote though, went with the middle one because the guy actually checked my roof structure instead of just eyeballing it.

Wait, the guy actually climbed up and checked your roof structure before giving you a quote? That's wild, most of them just stand in the driveway and point.
