Vent: My attempt to fix a drafty window with weather stripping took 3 weekends, not an afternoon

I kept hitting the old, uneven frame and had to try three different types of tape and foam. Anyone have a better method for old, warped windows?

My friend just used rope caulk on her old windows (it's like putty) and it worked great.

Isn't rope caulk more for sealing gaps in the winter and then you remove it? For old windows that are drafty all year, I've had better luck with a permanent seal like silicone caulk. The rope stuff can get gummy and leave a mess when it gets warm. It's a good quick fix, but for a lasting seal on the window frame itself, a proper caulk gun and tube works way better in my experience.
