A guy at a trade show in Chicago told me to never trust the first part off the machine

He said to always run a second piece and check it before you run the whole batch. I thought he was just wasting time, but last month I caught a tool drift issue on that second part that would have scrapped 50 pieces. How many of you actually run a second piece as a check?

My old boss at the Dayton shop called it the "idiot tax" piece. I learned the hard way after trusting a first-off and ruining a whole fixture plate. Now I just eat the two minutes it takes to run a second part.
