I finally told the kid on night shift to stop checking every part with calipers, and our scrap rate went up
Ran 400 aluminum brackets on the Haas last Tuesday, told him to trust the gauge and spot check every tenth part instead of measuring all of them, and we ended up with 7 out of spec because nobody caught a worn insert until the third hour, so tell me I'm the idiot here because the old timers in my shop swear spot checking is the only way.
