I see guys setting zero wrong on every setup
Been watching people at my shop in Denver keep hitting Z off the wrong reference surface. They lose 20 minutes re-cutting every time. Anyone else notice this being a problem in their place too?

Oh I get it, they're just trying to add a little extra excitement to the workday with a surprise machining challenge." Nothing like watching someone discover their Z zero was actually measuring air about halfway through a cut.

Remember reading about a guy who left the indicator on the spindle and watched it swing into the part at full rapids. That sound alone is enough to make a grown man question his career choices. Still, nothing teaches you to double check things like a few hundred bucks worth of scrap aluminum.
