Old timer told me to back off feeds and speeds on aluminum, I ignored him

Guy named Jerry with 30 years on a Bridgeport swore I was pushing my Haas too hard running 7075 at 200 ipm. I kept cranking it up thinking he was old school, then blew a $400 endmill in 8 minutes flat last Tuesday. Anyone else have a mentor's advice come back to bite you when you didn't listen?

Yeah, that's a tough one. I think @grace_hunt84 is onto something with the work hardening, but man, nothing hurts like watching a $400 tool eat itself in under 10 minutes.

200 ipm in 7075 is pretty aggressive for a Haas, but that's not what blew your endmill - 7075 work hardens like crazy if you let the chip load drop too low. You probably took too light a cut on a previous pass and work hardened the surface.
