Program error ate 3 hours of my day on a simple part

I was running a basic aluminum bracket job on our Haas VF-2 here in Madison last Tuesday. Everything was fine through the first 5 parts, then on the 6th I hit cycle start and the spindle just slammed into the vice at full rapid. Turns out I'd accidentally edited the G54 offset while cleaning up the program earlier. Had to re-indicate the whole setup and re-run from scratch, which cost me 3 hours and about $200 in material. Anyone else had a simple offset mistake turn into a full blown do-over?

I call that the 'free toolpath preview with extra anxiety' special.

Wait, wait... are you telling me you just let the machine run completely untended with only a screen preview to go by? I nearly choked on my coffee reading that. Did you at least have a camera pointed at it or were you just hoping for the best from another room? Because I've done some sketchy stuff, but just trusting a preview and walking away is a whole other level of faith in the firmware. Honestly kind of impressed you still have all your fingers typing this.
