Apprecation post: helped at a code-a-thon and it saved my sanity
Spent Tuesday helping out at a local beginners coding event in Denver. I was stuck on a personal project for three weeks before that, tutoring kept me from going crazy. Anyone else find teaching frees up your own mental blocks?.

Taught at a Python workshop last month and got unstuck on a database problem I'd been fighting for two weeks. Helping beginners really forces you to see your own code differently.

Wait, did you find that explaining the basics helped you spot the issue in your own code? Same thing happened to me when I was helping a friend with SQL joins and realized I'd been overcomplicating my own queries for months.
