Hot take: That bug I spent 4 hours on was a missing comma in a CSS file

Last night at 2am in my kitchen, I finally found it after literally crying into my laptop for 3 hours. Has anyone else ever spent way too long on something this dumb?

Call that time well spent because you actually learned where that stupid comma hides and what it breaks. A five minute fix that took four hours to find is exactly the kind of mistake you'll never make again. That painful hunt literally rewired your brain to catch it faster next time.

Yeah @kaib18 you're totally right and I hate that you're right haha. I spent six hours once tracking down a missing closing tag in some HTML and it turned out I just needed one tiny slash. I swear my brain now has a little gremlin that just shouts "SLASH" at me every time I type a tag. That kind of pain sticks with you way better than any tutorial ever could though. I still get a little twitch in my eye whenever I see a comma in code or a missing bracket. Your mileage may vary but I think those long hunting trips are the only way some of us really learn.

Build a whole personal checklist of dumb stuff to check first now.
