Just realized that starting with a plain text editor was my best coding move

Most people say new coders need fancy tools, but I learned the core ideas better with just a basic file. It made me really think through each step instead of relying on hints.

Totally! My buddy swears he learned fundamentals faster that way.

That makes sense. Getting thrown into real games puts pressure on you to figure out the basics fast.

Actually, this is a thing you see everywhere... people skip basics with fancy shortcuts. Like when folks use calculators for simple math and forget how numbers work. Or cooking with box mixes instead of learning what flour and eggs do. That lack of foundation shows up later when things get tricky... Same with coding, starting simple forces you to understand the why. It's like building a house on rock instead of sand... you just have a better feel for what you're doing.
