My coding bootcamp instructor told me to stop using YouTube tutorials and it actually made sense

I was talking to Dave, this guy who taught my intro to JavaScript class last semester, and he flat out said I was wasting my time watching 3 hour tutorials. He said I should just read the docs and build something small instead. At first I thought he was being elitist but after trying it for a week I actually learned more in less time. Has anyone else dropped tutorials and just started reading docs or is that just for advanced people?

Huh, I gotta disagree a bit. Tutorials helped me get the big picture before diving into docs that assume you already know stuff. Docs are great once you have a foundation, but throwing a total newbie into them is like handing someone a map of a city they've never visited.

Solidarity man, starting from zero is rough and docs can feel like a wall.
