My spreadsheet's math meltdown and a coding lesson

I was adding up my monthly costs and the total was completely wrong. I'd accidentally used a semicolon in a formula, which is like messing up punctuation in code. How do beginners learn to catch these tiny mistakes quickly?

Color coding cells saved my friend from similar formula disasters last week.

Printing things out actually helps spot those sneaky errors. The brain processes paper differently so your eyes catch what screens miss. That old school trick became a total game changer for my own formula checks.

Try changing the font on screen before you print. I'll switch my whole sheet to something like Comic Sans when I'm checking numbers... it looks so different that my brain stops skimming and actually reads each cell. Found a missing parenthesis last month that way because it just looked wrong in the silly font. Saves paper and catches those visual hiccups.
