Came around on pour over after 10 years of French press loyalty
I stopped at a little cafe in Portland last month and ordered their house pour over out of pure boredom with my usual order. The guy running it spent 4 minutes just on the bloom and I almost walked out thinking he was wasting my time. But the cup had this clean sweetness I never got from my press, even with the same beans I buy at home. I went back three times that week and now I'm rethinking my whole setup, maybe a gooseneck kettle and a V60 is worth the space on my counter. I still think French press gives you more body, but I was wrong about pour over being fussy for no reason. Anyone else switch methods after years of being loyal to one brew style?
