My pour-over routine changed after a $12 kitchen scale on Friday
I always thought my pour-over was fine, just eyeballed the water and beans. Last Friday my old scale died, so I grabbed a $12 one from the grocery store. Turns out I was using nearly twice the coffee I thought, the ratio was way off. The first cup with the right numbers tasted completely different, smoother and less bitter. Anyone else had their whole method flipped by one basic tool?

Wait, you were using double the coffee this whole time? That's insane. Twice the beans and you still thought it tasted fine? I mean, I get that people get used to their own brewing, but double is like a completely different drink. That's not a minor tweak, that's basically a whole new recipe. I would have never guessed a scale would expose something that wild, I figured it would be like ten percent off not a hundred. Honestly, your old scale dying might have been the best thing that ever happened to your morning routine.
