Serious question, did you ever have a coffee moment that felt like a movie scene?

I was cleaning a house in Tacoma last Tuesday and the owner offered me a cup of his pour-over. He used a light roast from Guatemala and a gooseneck kettle, pouring in slow circles. The taste was so bright and fruity, it completely stopped me in my tracks. Has anyone else had a random coffee experience that just hit different?

I used to roll my eyes at people who got all dramatic about a cup of coffee, I thought it was just hot bean juice that gets the job done. But then I was at this little shop in Spokane last winter, freezing cold, and the barista handed me a natural processed Ethiopian coffee that tasted like straight up blueberry jam. I sat there for a solid ten minutes just sipping it slowly, not even looking at my phone, which is pretty much unheard of for me. That's when I realized there's a real difference between "good coffee" and coffee that makes you stop and pay attention. So yeah, I get what you mean now, even though I used to be on the other side of that fence.

Totally get what you mean! I had this happen at a tiny cafe in Portland once. The barista made a cortado with this honey-processed bean, and the first sip was like pure caramel and orange zest. It was so unexpected and perfect, I just sat there staring at the cup for a minute. That kind of surprise when you're not even looking for it is the best feeling. What was the fruit taste like in that Guatemalan coffee?
