The $15 scale that changed my pour over game completely

I used to think scales for coffee were just hype. Grabbed a cheap AWS one on Amazon after my buddy said my ratios were off. Turns out I was using like 18g of coffee for a 300ml cup when it shoulda been 20-22g. The difference in taste was honestly night and day. Anyone else have a moment they realized they were eyeballing too much?

Man my first few months of pour over were just pure chaos. I was using a soup spoon to measure beans. Thought it was fine until I got a scale and realized I was dumping like 30g of coffee into a 200ml cup. Tasted like mud. Actually no, mud would have been an improvement. I was so embarrassed when my coffee nerd friend came over and saw my setup. He just stared at the soup spoon then back at me. Didn't say a word. That silence said everything. Now I won't even make a cup without weighing it out. Scales are the only way to go once you know better.
