Back issue bins changed my whole pull list strategy

For like 3 years I only bought new releases every Wednesday and my wallet was hurting around $40 a week. Then a buddy at my LCS in Portland told me to dig through their back issue bins for runs that ended years ago. I grabbed a full 12 issue arc from 2019 for $15 total and honestly it was way better than half the stuff I was pulling monthly. The trick is to check for complete storylines that got collected but missed the hype train when they first dropped. Has anyone else had luck finding hidden gems in the dollar bins instead of chasing new #1s?

It’s the same thing with music or even food, people chase the newest thing when the older stuff is often more solid and cheaper. Everyone wants to be in on the ground floor of a #1, but the real wins are in stuff that already proved itself and got looked over. Once you see that pattern, it’s hard to unsee it, and honestly it saves you a ton of money and disappointment.
