Best week of collecting: I snagged 3 key issues from a guy cleaning out his garage for $40 total
I spent last Wednesday at a random estate sale in Cleveland and walked out with a near-mint copy of Amazing Spider-Man #238 and two early Uncanny X-Men issues for pocket change. The seller had no idea what he had, so do you think guys like him are ruining the hobby for serious fans, or is it just pure luck that keeps it exciting?

Used to be pretty annoyed by clueless sellers but honestly it keeps the hobby fun and unpredictable for everyone. Pure luck like that is what makes this hobby feel alive and exciting.

Rowanw31, you got a good point but I gotta push back a little on the "pure luck" part. Luck definitely plays a role but most of the time the clueless seller just has no idea what they have, not that it dropped out of nowhere by magic. A lot of the fun is spotting that one listing with terrible photos and a vague title and knowing you might score big because the seller didn't bother to research. I've seen people get a vintage card worth hundreds for a few bucks just because the seller typed "old baseball card" with a blurry scan. So yeah, luck is a piece of it, but the real thrill is that moment of recognition when your brain clicks and you know you found something special before anyone else did. That's the unpredictable part that keeps me refreshing the page at midnight for no good reason.
