My 8-year-old niece asked me why I only collect modern comics, and her simple question about 'the old pictures' made me finally start hunting for some silver age books.

She pointed at a reprint in a library book and said, 'The colors look like candy, why don't you have any of those?' and now I'm browsing eBay for a decent copy of Fantastic Four #48.

My cousin found a beat up Silver Surfer comic in a box of old magazines last summer. The cover was almost gone but those old inks still popped. It got me looking at old Strange Tales runs for a bit.

Wait, they still had color after all that time? I mean, most old comics I've seen are totally faded. That's actually pretty wild it held up.
