My old longbox fell apart during a move last month
I was hauling my floppies from my apartment in Cleveland to a new place and the bottom of my 20 year old longbox just gave out. Spilled about 300 comics across the driveway, mostly 90s X-Men and some early Invincible issues I liked. Lesson learned, bag and board everything and get a proper plastic bin from the hardware store for like 15 bucks. Has anyone else had a storage fail ruin part of their collection?
That longbox was basically a ticking time bomb for 20 years and it finally went off in the worst spot possible. Of course it had to be the driveway, because the universe loves an audience for your pain. Watching 90s X-Men floppies scatter like confetti is a special kind of heartbreak, especially knowing half of them just went from near mint to driveway grade. The real insult is that longboxes cost like 5 bucks and always fail right when you trust them most. Plastic bins are the move, and if you toss a silica pack in there your comics will outlive us all.
