PSA: The way folks talk about Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns is driving me up a wall

Everyone keeps calling it a straight superhero comeback story when it's clearly a bitter satire of Reagan-era politics and vigilante worship, and it's been bugging me since I reread it last Tuesday with the 30th anniversary edition, so has anyone else noticed this or am I the only one who actually reads the subtext in those news panels?
