Talked to a long-time collector at my LCS last weekend

He said he stopped grading his keys because 'they're just paper with pictures, man.' It hit different hearing that from a guy with a full run of Amazing Spider-Man 1-100. Anyone else ever had a veteran collector shake up how you think about your own stuff?

My buddy spent five years chasing a near-mint X-Men 94 and after he got it slabbed he just stuck it in a drawer and never looked at it again. That's the thing with a lot of hobbies, we get so focused on the value or the grade that we forget these are just things we liked as kids. Sometimes the real flex is just flipping through a beat-up comic and remembering why you bought it in the first place.
