The way fans rank comic artists by fight scenes drives me nuts
I keep seeing people put artists like Jim Lee on a pedestal just because they draw huge splash pages, but nobody talks about how they handle quiet dialogue scenes. Last month at a shop in Phoenix, a guy argued that a book with good action but stiff faces was better drawn than one with real emotion. Am I the only one who thinks storytelling beats spectacle when it comes to art?
