Tried poly bags vs mylar bags for storing my silver age comics and the difference was nuts

After 2 years of using poly bags from my local shop, I switched to mylar for a stack of 30 key issues from the 60s and they keep the pages flat and the colors bright way longer, has anyone else noticed how fast poly bags go brittle?

Man that's wild, did the poly bags actually yellow or just get that nasty crumbly texture? I've got a stack I'm scared to even touch now.

My buddy Dave had a run of poly bags from 2018 that turned into this weird sticky film on his ASM issues, he had to carefully peel them off like a bad sticker. I switched to mylar for my whole collection after seeing his books, the difference in how they hold up over just a few years is honestly night and day. Idk why shops still push poly so hard when mylar barely costs more per bag for the peace of mind.
